In a game with significant playoff implications Burlington won the battle of big plays edging Blaine 31-28. Both teams started the game with turnovers and Blaine had several opportunities to put points on the board early in the first quarter but couldn't break through Burlington's defense as they held strong in the red zone.

Jordan McCarty eventually got the scoring started on a 5 yard slant to Todd Bird. In the second quarter Burlington capitalized on a Blaine turnover when highly recruited kicker Andrew Ferney hit a 29 yard Field Goal. After another Blaine turnover Achilles Wynn trotted in from 19 yards out. A few plays later Blaine struck again as McCarty hit Trevor Chau on an 8 yard pass making it 17-14 Blaine.

With 40 seconds left before halftime it seemed that Blaine had taken the momentum but this would be a night of big plays and Blaine would pay for the decision to kick deep to Burlington's speedster Achilles Wynn as he hauled it in and raced 91 yards to put Burlington up 24-14. The first half weather was dry defying the forecast but things took a turn for the worse in the second half as the wind began to blow and the rain poured down. The weather didn't dampen Caleb Statham's evening as he scored on consecutive possessions with nifty runs of 36 and 50 yards to put Blaine back on top 28-24.

The last big play however belonged to Burlington as Mikey Sanchez took a wide pitch out and scampered 41 yards to put Burlington up for good 31-28.
