Team A scores a TD. On the ensuing 2-pt conversion, their pass is intercepted. Is the ball dead there, or can team B advance the ball? And if they can, and B takes it all the way, is it just 2 pts for team B, or is it a TD?

Also, if its a blocked 1-pt kick attempt, can that ball be advanced under any scenario? (HS rules, of course) Thanks

The defense cannot score on a try in HS football and in the NFL. Only in the NCAA can the defense score 2 points.

On a 1 point try, the ball is dead when it's obvious it won't score.

On a 2 point try, the ball is dead when the defense gains control.

A follow-up.

If a team's PAT try is blocked, can the kicking team still pick up the ball and run in for 2?

Maybe I'm just dense. What do you mean by 'when it's obvious it won't score'?

When it's obvious it won't go over the crossbar or when there is no way it will cross the goal line carried (or fumbled) by a member of the kicking team? (in the case of a blocked kick or mis-handled snap)

Thanks for clearing up my confusion.

If the kick is blocked and rolling around on the field, then it's "obvious it won't score." The play is over.

ESPN2 had a high school game on where a team blocked a PAT and scored 2 points when they returned it... does Texas use their own rules?

Texas and Massachusetts use NCAA rules.
