Individuals
103:
Derek Crouter- Sedro-Woolley
Ricardi Rivera- Sunnyside
Jared Miller- Kelso
Shelby Lawson- East Valley Spokane
Ty Howard- Cedarcrest
Eddie Perdroza- Prosser
The darkhorse in almost every weight will be the East Valley wrestlers. I expect
Crouter to end up on top, but Lawson could be the surprise here.
112:
Neal Ward- Kelso
Joey Plumb- East Valley Spokane
Brad Caldwell- Columbia River
Nick Uehara- River Ridge
Brad Hayes- Sedro-Woolley
Nick Miller- Fife
Like 103 I think Ward is a clear favorite, but with again another East Valley
wrestler waiting in the wings.
119:
Demetrious Johnson- Washington
Steven Sanchez- Sunnyside
Jared Dalgleish- Kelso
Kevin O'Niel- Sedro-Woolley
Francisco Rosales- Wapato
Deven Stelter-Moormen- West Valley Yakima
Johnson was a finalist last but should be a run from a bunch of wrestlers that
have improved from last year.
125:
Jason Costello- Squalicum
Mason May- Yelm
Devin Palmer- Fife
Brandon Stelter- West Valley Yakima
Victor Harkness- Bellingham
Andrew Richardson- Tumwater
Costello is the standout here.
130:
Nathan Decker- Sedro-Woolley
Blake Riske- Cheney
Zack Smith- Bremerton
Jacob Tarvin- River Ridge
Johnny Hurtado- Prosser
Tyler Munson- West Valley Yakima
Jacob Tarvin- River Ridge
Decker has never had it easy. There always seems to be high quality wrestlers in
his weight every year. Riske could be that tough opponent this year. Hurtado
could also be a factor.
135:
Patrick O'Neil- Sedro-Woolley
Jared Imes- East Valley Spokane
Tony Underwood- Penninsula
Andrew Hansen- Chehalis
Dan Classon- Cedarcrest
Aaron Biggs- River Ridge
An O'Neil/Imes match could be an important one in the team race.
140:
Coby Jones- Burlington
Michael Lomsdalen- Sedro-Woolley
Ionica Hansen- West Seattle
Chris Yncera- Issaquah
Robert Foy- Chehalis
Matt Hansen- East Valley Spokane
This could be the toughest weight in 3a. Hansen could easily be ranked #1.
145:
Brandon Sitch- Kelso
Derek Driscoll- Chehalis
James Curtis- Yelm
Nate McRae- Chief Sealth
Jordan Frisbee- Sedro-Woolley
Casey Oswald- Bellingham
There could be a number of great matches between Driscoll and Stich. I've said
this before: the junior year is always the hardest title.
152:
Kyle Morrow- White River
Patrick Janicki- Sedro-Woolley
David Haward- Cedarcrest
Pat Lawson- Bellingham
Jason Mannie- South Whidbey
Brody Faler-Camas
The top three are interchangeable.
160:
Jake Freidman- Peninsula
Sean McNulty- White River
Fred Arnold- East Valley Spokane
Rick Copsey- Camas
Ethan Sandelin- Sedro-Woolley
Ryan Nielsen- Squalicum
If and when Kyle Bounds gets back I'll still probably have him second behind
Friedman.
171:
Cody Leifheit- Ferndale
Ryan Jones- Camas
Omar Petty- Clover Park
Tim Haukenberry- White River
Joey Clark- Sedro-Woolley
Jordan Jolley- East Valley Spokane
Leifeit and Jones have already had a close match earlier this year.
189:
Zack Little- Columbia River
Jesse McMillan- Kelso
Joel Shumate- Black Hills
Kevin Lind- Fife
Pat Smith- Renton
Keena Washington- Clover Park
This weight is wide open. Shumate could be the surprise here.
215:
Brad Padgett- White River
Max Newberry- Aberdeen
Jesse Johnson- Mercer Island
John Sanchez- Washougal
Travis McKinzie- Cheney
Joe Shaw- Sequim
This weight also has a bunch of good wrestlers. Padgett just may be too tough
for everyone.
275:
Derek Altona- Ferndale
Curtis Baskett- West Seattle
Jared Riffe- Timberline
Chris Helm- East Valley Spokane
Pete Garza- Sunnyside
Lewis Byron- West Seattle
Altona could be on his way to three titles.
Teams
Favorite:
Sedro-Woolley- This could be the best team in the state in any classification.
They just have too many people that can score points at the tournament
Darkhorse:
East Valley Spokane- They will be the big mystery team in 3a. They had been in
4a and on the other side of the mountain. Most of the rest of 3a really hasn't
seen much of them. That can be an advantage or a disadvantage.
Challenger:
Kelso- They just don't have the horses to beat Sedro-Woolley. They do however
have enough to reach the top four.
Chehalis- This is a good young team that could be a year away.
Good
teams:
Ferndale- They should be able to reach the top ten
White River- They could have enough to reach the top four.
Peninsula- I'm going to have to keep an eye out on these guys. They still are a
bit of a question for me.
Bellingham- They may be a better duel meet team then a tournament team.
