Team A kicks off, ball goes OB on the B 25. As I understand it, team B can make A rekick from their 35 or accept the ball at their own 35. Now what if the ball goes OB at the B 45. Does B get that benefit, or are their options take the ball at their own 35, or have A relick after being assessed the 5 yd penalty?

The receiving team has 3 options, 5 yd penalty re-kick, take the ball 25 yd's from kick, or take the ball where it went out of bounds. The 25 yd penalty is used because it depends on where the ball is kicked from. If they had another penalty that affected the KO it would be different.

If the ball went out at the 45 they could take it there, which I think most coaches would.

Tonight, we had a USC marked off from the 40 against the kicking team, so we kicked from the K25. The kick went OOB at the K46.

The R coach made them re-kick. Go figure.
